Overview

Hulhumalé

Hulhumalé is a miracle of modern engineering: an artificial island reclaimed from the sea, created to expand the capital area. Being connected directly to Velana International Airport by a bridge, it has become the number one "smart" stopover for those arriving on late flights or departing early in the morning.

Unlike chaotic Male, Hulhumalé offers wide streets, green parks, and an endlessly long white sand beach (where bikinis are not allowed) dotted with dozens of trendy cafes, ice cream parlors, and oceanfront restaurants.

It hosts a wide selection of modern hotels for all budgets and a marina for safari boats. It is the soft, comfortable, and organized gateway for the beginning or the end of the Maldivian dream.
